Our little mini get away

Last Thursday Sue and I took off with a hiking group out of Salt Lake City down to Capitol Reef National Park to do some hiking and some camping.

We had a great time, the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold.

We got about 15 miles of hiking in, with the best hike on Saturday. It was the Sulfur Creek Route in Capitol Reef. It consisted of approx 7-8 miles of trails meandering in and out of the creek with 3 waterfalls that we had to climb down to continue on the trail. Sue obviously has no problems as she loves climbing and jumping over rocks, but yours truly doesn't really appreciate heights so it was something that I overcame with time and each waterfall that we encountered. The largest drop was approx 10 feet with the last remaining waterfall being approx 8 feet down but to get down that it didn't require climbing but sitting on your butt in the water and sliding down the fall to reach the pool of water. Pictures of this will be later as I didn't take the good camera but the disposable camera and it's in getting developed.

Enjoy the other pictures, Capitol Reef is a beautiful park that's not crowded at all.

The drive down and back was beautiful that took you thru small Utah towns with some great scenery.

On to our next adventure........
