It's work picnic time

The last few days has been nothing but work picnic's.

Sunday was the REI end of summer party. Nice time, good to always get out and see others outside of work.

Thursday was the Oracle Picnic held at our bosses house in Park City, great time as well to talk to others outside of work. You get to know alot about co-workers when you're not at work. (PICS attached)

Tonight is a party for one of our friends sisters, her 50th. Do we really have friends that old ;)

Tomorrow night is our block party, the first one we're actually able to attend, weather seems to be holding up nicely for all of them so far.

Travis bought a Jeep last night, a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, he was in the garage till the wee hours of the morning last night putting it back together basically. It was a project car from one of his friends friends and he didn't have time to finish it. Travis is under the gun on on it now as he wants to take it to Moab in about a month for his Fall Break from the U. Nice looking jeep, he just didn't want his moms jeep to outshine him. Wonder how long he'll keep his WRX?? tick tock tick tock.

Ali turns 16 one week from today, God help us all. She's been applying for jobs, albeit not very diligently but applying. :)

Enjoy the weekend.

Sue, Justin and I went camping this weekend up in the Uinta's. Was cold but bearable.

That's it for now, take care.

September 1st, yep, missed August

Oh geeze, here goes another month gone by and I didn't update the blog. Rhonda, thanks for the note about this, it pushes me to do it!!

What have we done since last time. Well, we went to Chicago for a visit over the 4th of July, stayed with Sue's parents at the Lake, always a good time, especially when the boat and waverunners are working right. No accidents or trips to the ER this year, thank you Sue for staying on your feet and not hitting your head. Got to visit with some old friends from Crystal Lake, went out there for a day and drove around the area, my how the area has changed. Still don't miss it though, miss the friends, just not the area or the humidity.

Didn't partake in a Cubs game this year - They suck, why waste the money.

Drove down to IN to spend a few days with my family. Took the kids on Sugar Creek, went tubing, remember kids, it's dangerous, no tying the tubes together hahahahahah dangerous, tube down the Provo River with us sometimes, that's danger, Sugar Creek was a baby compared to the Provo. Anyway, had a good visit with parents. Sad to see them getting older, each and every one of them, our kids def. need to spend more time with them.

Bought Ali a car from our friends Jay/Dalisa, drove it back to Utah, Travis and Justin pretty much spent the entire 24 hours in it. All is well, she'll have her license here in 23 days, look out. Justin will have his Learners permit here in 1 week from today, then all of the Meihls Clan will be legal to drive :) pheww.

Sue, Justin and I went backpacking back to Notch lake again this year. Seems like an annual trip now, however next time we want to try some place different. Spent 2 nights in the wilderness, no animals that we heard or saw :( Pic shows Justin and Sue pumping our daily water.

Kids all started back to school last week, all looks well there. Ali didn't try back out for Volleyball as she wants to focus on studies right now, from what I hear, she does want to try out for Basketball so time to hit the courts with her. Justin will try back out for Lacrosse this coming Spring, nothing on his plans right now.

I started back to work at Snowbird a week or so ago, working the parking lot for Oktoberfest, damn i love that area.....one of my first days back I got to work when the Tour of Utah was finishing, Justin is into cycling, he got to meet Levi Leipheimer Tour De France 13th place finisher this year, if you're not familiar with him, he was Lance's right hand man for a while. anyway, he raced and won the Tour of Utah, pic is attached as well.

That's about it for now I believe. More to come, stay in touch.

Sue and I

Sue and I took off a few weeks ago for Moab. Just her and I and the tent and sleeping bags.

We had reservations to do the Westwater Canyon Rafting trip thru Canyon Voyages. Loved it, pics attached. After we were done though we both agreed, we want more......rapids, roughness, etc. etc. Maybe next time we'll do a 2 day trip somewhere, people keep telling us to go North to Idaho to try their water, looks like Google will be busy over the winter with me looking.

We also just got back from our seems like annual trip to IL and IN. Good to visit with Family and friends. I think we both agree that we still don't miss the area, now family, yes we miss, but the Chicago area and IN area doesn't draw us back to live.

Drove 2nd car back from IN, bought it from Jay and Dalisa, Dalisa' 2004 Honda Civic, now i guess we need to refer it as Ali's car. Next up Justin and his permit.

More later.

June Happenings

Almost half way thru June already, wow, where is the time going?

Sue took off to Indy for a mentorship program at Riley Hospital - CF clinic, she got to spend a few days with my family while there. I couldn't make it given that my new job just started up and we're going to be heading back that way for a short visit in July. She got to fly home on her birthday, June 10th, long trip - she was tired.

This past Saturday, Justin did his first Sprint tri all by himself. 300m swim, 11.5 m bike followed by a 5k run. He finished in nice time 1:40, it started out rainy but ended up half way decent, not sunny by any means but drier. He followed up his Triathlon with 3 games of Lacrosse at the Bingham Miner Classic in S. Jordan. Needless to say, Saturday evening came and he was exhausted as well.

Travis has been working on his car, his 06 Subaru WRX, clean clean clean. In the downtime from the WRX, he's been tooling around in the Jeep Wrangler, yeah, it still rocks.

Ali just got done with her Volleyball Camp, I also took her in last week to get her belly button pierced, yeah, what a great dad I am huh :)

Sue and I are taking off Friday for Moab, a short little get a way for a few days, no kids. We're rafting down the Colorado - Westwater Canyon. Can't wait.

Pics to come later.

May comes to a close.....

May came to a close. First time for us in 4 years that we haven't had our sprinklers on yet, it's been so wet it feels like we're back in IL. As Sue says, "enough already, give me the sun" It's coming dear, along with the 90's and humidity, wait, it's Utah, no humidity :)

Took a short jaunt up to Boise ID this past Memorial Day weekend. The whole purpose for the trip was going to http://www.zipidaho.com/ Fantastic time. If you get a chance, do it, you'll enjoy it. I didn't zip cuz of weight requirements and fear of heights. check out my facebook page for the video as well as more pictures. Sue and kids had a good time. It's a series of 6 zip lines, starting out on a platform a few feet off ground you zip to tree (photo on here), from there you zip to 2 more trees before heading to a ground landing on the 4th one. The 5 zip line (wild turkey) takes you 1700 feet over a "canyon" and about 100' off the ground (hence my fear of heights) to another ground landing. The 6th and final one is 1800' long where you race whoever you'd like as it's a double line (not on the same line) 2 lines next to each other. Like I said, if you get the chance, try it, it's fun.

Took a drive before the Zipline to Crouch ID, nice little town, the drive took us along the Northern Payette, past the Staircase rapids, would def. like to boat down that one someday.

ID is a nice State to visit, nice scenery where we were, however, windy as all get out on the way up and the way home, felt like we were in WY or NE on the way back to IL. Speaking of way back, we're heading back to IL and IN for a visit with both sets of parents July 2nd to the 11th. Looking forward to that, it's been way too long.

Sue is making a trip in to Indy next week for a Cystic Fibrosis Mentoring program. She applied last year but wasn't selected. This year she was accepted and it just so happens to be in Indy where the center is. She's going to be staying with my parents while in town and no mom, I'm not coming in!! :(

Justin is winding down his Lacrosse season, pic attached. He's had a good season, lots of goals and tons of assists, he's sort of the team leader when he's playing, which is quite often. I hope he continues to pursue this passion, he's really a good little player. I use the term little as it is true until he grows.....we keep waiting, Junior year maybe :)

That's it for now!!

No way, update again

Today Sue and Ali are walking in the Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis.

I got to lounge around the house till Justin's Lacrosse game at 12:45 so thought i'd throw some updated pictures on here of Justin's Confirmation 2 weeks ago, enjoy.

Updates

Well let's see, May 14th and what's new.

Travis is done with his Freshman year at the U, everything went well. Looks like he'll be getting an apartment close to school next year with a few friends.

Ali is finishing her Freshman year at Juan Diego, she got her upper braces off this past week too and Justin is finishing 8th Grade at SJB.

I now work for Oracle in Software Sales. Sue is busy as ever with Cystic Fibrosis Clinic - understaffed and overworked. Hopefully soon they can get fully staffed.....

Ski season working is done for me, even though it's snowing in the mountains still, no need for Ski Check or Parking.

We bought Sue a Jeep for Mothers Day, guess what she's getting for her Birthday - yep, parts for the Jeep. It's a 1992 Wrangler Interior is in great condition, the exterior needs some work.
We'll tinker with it all summer. Took it for a drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon last week. Gorgeous day - Mother's Day.

Summer is right around the corner!!

Visitors

This weeks brings us some visitors. Steve and Tyler Billings are on their way out right now. Steve has business in Utah to tend to and Tyler is spending Easter with the Meihls clan again. He's planning on hitting the slopes often. Looks like Travis Ali and Justin might be sick a day or 3. :)

Eric Raucci is bringing his lovely wife Teri out to view the area for a possible move out here next summer. Sort of a show and tell for him.

We plan on doing the Crater this Sunday, have lived here for 4 years and this will be our first time.

We also plan on taking them to Ruth's Diner and also Silver Fork Lodge.

Still no start date on my new job at Oracle, looks like it might be next week. Hopefully soon, Sue is getting tired of me being home and quite frankly, so am I. Once this job starts, looks like the alarm will be going off at 4:30 in order to get up and do the routine of making breakfast for Sue and I and also lunches too. Can we go to bed any earlier. Thank god we don't have WGN out of Chicago, otherwise I think we'd be watching their 9:00 news at 8:00 our time and hitting the sack.

The pic was taken from my Iphone, I liked it with the wind blowing over the mountain snow it had a shadow effect.

That's it for now.

March, 2010

Well January and February came and went rather quickly.

Had the Raucci's out (Eric, Ashley and Sam) the first week of February, Eric is bringing Teri and Ashley back out in a couple of weeks. They love the snow in the mountains. Interestingly enought, that's what brought us here too.

Ali went to the Winters dance. Volleyball will start up soon enough with open gym and all. Good luck to her this year on that. Hopefully it'll be a full year of Volleyball, no other surgeries scheduled.

Justin has been playing indoor lacrosse, it's now over and in a few weeks, Spring Lacrosse will begin, in the meantime, he's running Cross Country at St. John.

Travis completed his first semester at University of Utah, passed all of his courses and is doing well in the 2nd semester. He's working diligently and saving as much as he can to purchase his new car, Subaru WRX.

Sue is walking in the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis walk on May 15, if you'd like to donate, here's the link:

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Till next time.
